A question of restoration - 81 245 w 400K miles 200 1981

Hey all,
This is an open philosophical question about the merits/pitfalls of having my 81 245 restored. (http://www.geocities.com/dabluebrick/index.html)
It is in fairly good shape both body and mechanical, but I am starting to see it spending more and more time in the shop for fixes, not that I mind, but it is tiresome, and I want some dependability.
So do I go and buy a new car...20K, or do I spend 4-6k, (all prices are CDN), restoring the blue brick. The emotional Volvo lover in me says restore, as I am sure most of you understand, but is that the right decision? Will I indeed gain the reliability I am looking for by doing the restoration, or will I still be stuck with little nigly breakdowns etc...I can handle minor problems that I can potentially repair myself, but the bigger stuff bugs me.
Nothing appeals to me more than owning a "brand" new 81 245, especially this one. But I am just looking for other peoples insight/thoughts/pitfalls...

I look forward to the reply's!

Cheers
-Phil
