Another O/D problem 200 1983

I was surprised to find out that there is an overdrive relay behind the dash in addition to the solenoid at the transmission. I have had my 82 GLT for eleven years now and the overdrive used to be troublesome because the connectors to the solenoid would loosen with driving and then suddenly the overdrive would stop functioning.

Then it began to be erratic, working sometimes and not others. Like you, I became choosy about when I would put it on. I replaced the relay and that has made a big difference. It still blows the fuse on occasion, however, so I don't have the system working at full capacity.
