how can i test speedometer while intstrument cluster is disassembled 200

I've shorted out my instrument cluster while installing a tach. I replaced the circuit board and then soon after shorted out the speedometer. Now I've put in a new one, but it's not responding. I would like to test the speedometer while it's out of the car. What pins do I need to connect power to or is there a special signal the speedometer needs?

Thanks,
