Re-build engine to put in a Super Charger, wise or not? 700 1990

Hi guys, I have about 4 grand saved up (and still saving more) that I wish to invest into my 1990 740GL Volvo B230F engine. I've been thinking about having it re-built for the purpose of adding a Super Charger. My goal is to get at least 200HP out of her. Currently it is bone stock with 143k miles.

My question(s) to you guys is, 1. Is this a realisitic goal? 2. I would like to swap the auto tranny (AW70) out for a manual however, do you guys suppose it would be strong enough to handle an upgraded engine like what I have planned?

Please post your opinions on why or why not this would be a good idea, and more importantly if this is not a good idea, what else could I look into doing to get a nice boost in performance.

Many thanks!
