I'm sure this will make the more experienced readers shudder. I know what and where the spark plugs and the distributor cap are, and have convinced myself to do the plugs, distributor cap, rotor, and air filter. After my massive service at the shop, the only remaining part of the 30,000 mile service due on my 80,000 mile 244GL will be the PCV service. Because the Bentley manual suggests that problems here can cause high pressures forcing oil through the seals I just paid a fortune to replace, I thought maybe I'd better look into this as well. But working from my Bentley manual's illustrations, and hampered by my ignorance I can't even SEE anything that appears to be the PCV hoses or the oil separator. The illustration looks like it should be just behind the distibutor on the left(American driver's) side of the engine. But if true, then what I believe to be the fuel injection system sits right on top of it, and frankly, I can't see in there well enough to tell what's there, let alone access it to do anything. What am I missing here? And is there a diagnostic test that can be run to see if there's any problem short of visual inspection and replacing the flame trap (which, of course, I can't find either since Bentley says it is on the short hose at the top of the oil separator on the 1983 model).
