alternator wiring info needed

If the alternator on the 940 is like that on a 240, it hasonly three wires to it.

A fat one connected on a stud, which carries the charging current. A thin one that connects to a spade lug that's insulated from the alternator frame. Another thin one from the alternator frame to a bolt on the block.

Dunno if there are non-Chilton manuals for your Volvo. Call 1-800-25-VOLVO the get the Volvo "green" Service Manuals. First one recommended is the one on Wiring Diagrams.
