240 Intermittent Sputtering Problem 200 1987

I know how you feel. I went through this with my 90 240. Your 87 has a different ignition system.

First off, you can isolate if you have a ignition related problem by observing your tach. When your car is stalling and/or dear, are you getting any tach readings? If not then you need to research your ignition system. Possibily the hall sensor.

If ignition is fine, then I would get a new 25 amp fuse holder at West Marine.

I think your AMM is fine. When the car is dead and refuse to start back up, unplug the AMM. Your car can run without the AMM plugged in.
