81 gl (240) turns over then stalls - please help

Running problems at less than half tank are defects in the rubber connector hose on the in-tank fuel pump. Your problems do not sound like the fuel relay although you are wise to eye it suspiciously. It is olive green, I think (maybe black) and near the drivers left knee. That is if your car is K-jet and I think it is. If by some chance it is LH2 you might have a bad AMM, the rare 001. More likely you have a vacuum leak in a hose or fuel distributor boot, something like that.
