What? Intake manifold bolt holes 1800

Help.

I've been preparing to look for a vacuum leak that's causing high idle
on my '72 ES.

Today, I was removing the intake manifold from a '70 E head, to
ship to another listee, and noticed the bolt/stud pattern, especially
the lower bolt holes, in the center of each of the two manifold
sections, right under the leave out for the raised alignment stub
(boss?) in the head.

These are hidden from view, from above, by the exhaust manifold. When
I blind checked on the '72 ES, no bolts. Ah-ha! Eureka! I've found the
vacuum leak.

However, upon further probing, I find no bolt hole!! The leave out is
there, for the boss, but there is no lower bolt hole!

The lower bolt hole is on the '70 intake manifold, and is shown on the
intake manifold for the ES (183), in the GCP parts Cataloque. What gives?

gary - '72 ES, '67 122S
