I think you are better off w/the silicon based stuff, brakes can get really hot and you don't want to chance the other stuff going liquid and coating the pads/rotor. You can pick up a small tube of it pretty cheaply at the local parts store. However, I am not a chemical engineer and may be talking through my hat. If someone knows otherwise, step in.

By the way, be prepared to clean the gunk off the pins and out of the hole, it can be rather sticky if it hasn't seen regular service.
