Cleaning Fuel Injectors 700

I have removed the intake manifold on my 1985 740 GLE B230F engine. I did this so I could inspect all the wiring beneath the manifold. The wiring seems to be in pretty good shape except for a 4 inch length near the connector for the temp gauge sensor. I am going to test the ECT sender , also oxygen sensor.

Now I was wondering if I can apply 12 volt directly to the fuel injectors? since they are still in the FI rack attached to the removed manifold? Also what should I use for cleaning the injectors and how might I do this with the manifold off the car.
