Dyno numbers 1800

phil,
I can't let the statement that "(HP has nothing to do with it)" referring to acceleration, go by unchallenged. HP has everything to do with acceleration.
If it did not there would be no need for a concept known as HP. Without getting technicaland into the formula for HP, anyone who has run a performance engine on a dyno (intentional dig here) and paid attention to the results will know that the RPM range of greatest acceleration in any gear is not where there is peak torque but instead at the HP peak. If HP had nothing to do with acceleration then the Honda S2000, for example, would be a very slow car.

Steve is dissapointed because instead of just believing in "seat of the pants"
and the hype from the products he installed, he actually spent $70 to find out whether there had really been significant improvements worth the effort ( another intention dig ). What he found was that there was very little improvement for a car with a locally ported head, highly touted swedish cam, header and 2 1/4 exhaust, as compared to the dyno results from stock injected B20 engines that I have dyno tested.

I agree with you that he will probably see some additional improvement when he can get the engine tuned so it can safely run past 5,000 RPM, and may see some very significant improvements even in the low RPM ranges, but his results are probably typical of doing these types of changes on a D Jet engine without being able to significantly change the fuel delivery curve to match the characteristics of the his current cam, head porting, etc.
