Maybe it wasn't so clear from the pic...but this should help...

...you call it a spacer, I call it a wedge, because that more accuratly describes its varying thickness...the piece, which is installed between dash and radio, is fatter at the bottom than the top, effectively lowering the back of the radio to clear wiper linkages.
