generator to slternator swap 120-130 1964

Hi. You need:

a) a adapter to fit the alternator to the engine: SWEM web site (ref http://www.intelab.com/swem/altkit.htm) and IPDUSA (ref http://www.ipdusa.com/ProductsCat.aspx?CategoryID=639&NodeID=4008&RootID=629 )sell this ones (or you can make one if you are a hardware hobbyst - btw: I use the original generator support plus some spacer and nuts, plus a arm taken from another car). Both sites have good "instructions recipes" (installation guides).

b) a alternator: Bosch could be the best, but are scarse (if you have experience fishing parts on car junk wards. a 1975 240 volvo alternater fit the bill, remember take the electrical wiring and regulator with it).

I understand than Delco alternators models 10 or 12 are more available on USA (remember to adquire the electrical connector or you will make another travel to the shop for it, ref: http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/delcoremy.shtml).

I like to use alternators with internal regulator and three wires (to battery, pilot-idiot light and field-exciting). One wiring alternators are no so good for our cars(ref.: http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/onewire-threewire.shtml).

The Delco 10 are equivalent to the original Bosch amazon alternators, the Delco 12 have more punch (usefull for stereo monsters :-) ). More powerfull alternators are not a good idea due the limitations and age of the car electrical wiring.

c) The usual yellow sticker: Please shut off the engine and disconnect the battery before attempt any change on the car's electrical system :-)

Have a fun day!

PS: In my car I use a korean clone of the S10 (more available on my country):
