can I safely straight pipe the front muffler? 900 1992

940 GLE B234F 1992 sedan

I would like to put a straight pipe in place of the front muffler seeing as it has formed a leak, and the rest of my exhaust seems solid with new rear muffler.

Would I largely sacrifice quietness?

Any changes that could negatively affect performence or oxygen sensor reading?

Hoping this would be OK. Any advice appreciated. Engine is the 16v.
