1997 subaru

There are good rebuilders, and then there are those out to make a quick buck. It's a matter of finding out which one this vehicle falls into ...

When was the vehicle totalled? If it was early on in its life, then the damage would've been really drastic. If it was just recently, then the damage may not have been as bad. A simply scrape and trim damage can cost over $1000.

Look under the carpets to see if the rewelds are full and clean. To the worse extent, I've seen rebuilds that had sections simply tack welded into place.

Try and trace back to where the cuts were made. If any cuts were made through the A pillar, then I really can't say that the roof is going to hold up in a rollover. There are anywhere from 3-6 layers of steel there ... I can't see all of it being welded back correctly.

I'm not dissuading consideration here, but it's just that there are so many "rebuilders" out there that really have no business in repairing salvages.
