89 240 auto hangs up when hot

Hello all,
My 89 240 auto trans hangs up betewen 1st and 2nd shifts when hot. Works like a charm when cold. After a couple of miles, it won't shift into second without letting up on the gas quite a bit. Traansmission shows full after two minuite idle on level ground? Would a trans flush help, and can Fiorestone do this kind of thing or is it a dealer service item?
