Degradable wiring 200 1988

Hi,

My nephew is contemplating buying a 1988 240 wagon to replace his 1985 one, which he wrote off recently - totalling a Merc CLK in the process, and it wan't even his fault!

My question is: will a 1988 still have that useless degradable wiring that Volvo inflicted on us in the early to mid 1980's? Or had they replaced it by then?
