89 240 Engine Problems 200

If you don't have the Benteley Manual get one. The first step is to read the failure codes. This is easy to do. On the drivers side there is a little box with a cover and test lead attached to it. You remove cover and insert lead into slot 2. Then with key on press and hole button in box down for more than 1 sec. The codes then flash.

Your problem could be the oxygen sensor. Just had this problem on my car. Replaced it with a universal 3 wire Walker one from fcpgroton for $50. If your car is running rich for to long it can cook the cat.
