new 142 140-160

"Did you get the North Carolina 142?"

No, after seeing pics of it he wanted too much money IMO, especially since it looked like it really needed to be completely stripped and painted to save the body and that would put my budget/project a year behind schedual.

I picked up a 71 142 off of ebay in west virginia. Going to go pick it up on the 20th. I have big big plans for it, hopefully most of it reaches fruition.

I am planning on stripping most of the interior and putting a small to medium sized roll cage in it. I want to use seats from this fellow www.vintageseats.com (check some of them out, they look wicked and better be for the price). I'd like to get my hands on a rallye inst cluster but thats not likely.. so I might just make my own out of autometer classic gauges.

I have 1 3/4" progressive springs from john at vintage performance for the front and IPd's regular fair sport springs for the back. I need to get new bushings here soon so I can do most of the suspension work in one shot over the holidays. I haven't really decided if I am going to go rubber or poly.. but I will probably go poly.

As for wheels, I am definately leaning towards black minilites(http://www.minilitewheels.com/) They say you can fit a 15 x 6.5 on a 140. I have considered spacers and going to a modern FWD mag for a year now, but the spacers arn't cheap and I prefer the look of a RWD offset more than a FWD one. As long as whatever I end up with makes the wheels come out more to looking more flush with the body (especially the front wheels) I will be happy.

As for engine performance.. I probably wont get near that until next year. I have a lot of ideas though. I would like to keep a b20 in the car but the horsepower/cost ratio is not very pretty. I don't want gobs of power but 160-220 HP with a nice powerband would be nice and that won't come cheaply with a b20, so I have a whole lot of engine swap ideas.
