740 will not crank 700 1985

"Re soldered battery "+" wires to battery clamp"

Solder doesn't belong in an engine compartment due to low melt point. Given the size of the wires I think you would need a very large iron to get it even remotely hot enough for a good solder flow. Get a heavy duty cable end and clean throughly the wire ends and attach, There are several small wires getting 12 volts along with the + to starter.

Note: Larger red from battery goes directly to solenoid. Medium red from alternator goes directly to battery.

"for this one I reran a new one from the back of the alternator to the solenoid"
Is this where it was origianlly? My small green wire from solenoid (87 740) goes into harness but doesn't connect to alternator. Check ground wire from block to alternator.
