Wheels - Maximum Backside? 140-160

"The greatest backspacing I've used on a 140 series is 3.25 inches."

Are you sure the biggest you ran is 3 1/4"? the stock rims have a 4 3/4" back space (including the lip), so they are further inboard than your 3 1/4". They are 6 inches from lip to lip and have a 5 inch centre.

I have heard tell that you can get a 15x6.5 on a 140. From lip to lip that would be 7.5". And if you kept the stock backspacing of 4 3/4" your rims would be 1.5" further out at the outside lip. Which is awfully close to the lip of the wheel well (a quick and dirty measurement just now off my '72 142 shows about 2" clearance from the top point of the wheel arch with stock rims/tire size) so I guess it would work.

Has anyone put 15x6.5's on a 140?
