Where is the brake light switch, you ask......?? 200 1988

Man, that sucker is hard to spot. First one I removed was from a parts car which had the instrument cluster already out - made it easy to approach it from above.

Remove the felt knee pad on the driver's side. Flex your body into the driver's footwell, so you can lie there and look up - sort of. The switch is mounted ABOVE and to the right the steering column, in front of the brake pedal bar. It has two (three if cruise control installed) wires to it, same color.

It is mounted above the brake pedal pivot. It is a normally closed switch that is held open as long as the brake pedal is not pushed.

Easiest test is to have a helper watch while you jump the leads. Labor to remove the switch and test it is the same as putting in a new one.

Good Luck,

Bob
