940 side mirrors on a 740 700 1991

I have an '88 740, and I can get side mirrors from a '91 940. Has anyone tried to make this work before?

While replacing one of the doors from a '91 740, I noticed the black exterior trim (holds the window rubber at the base of the window) stops at the edge of the window. On my '88, this trim gets thinner and runs all the way to the edge of the door (under the side mirror).

I can get the '91 740 trim. So I guess the real question is whether '91 940 side mirrors will fit a '91 740. ??
