B21/B23 into a 544 444-544

I've got a 1960 544 with a rather tired B16B under the hood. Has anyone attempted (or succeeded) in installing a B21 or B23 series engine and transmission into a 544? I'm willing to do surgery to the trans tunnel to accommodate the newer transmission. Living in the desert, I need an engine with enough power to run A/C without straining. I know it's simpler to use a B20, but since I'm going to have to get another engine anyway, so I wanted to explore my options. Thanks in advance.

Bruce
