engine quits when high beams on 700

First thing to check is the multiple ground point on the left hand inner fender shown in the pic below.

What happens is this, the metal strip which the ground connections plug onto develops a high resistance connection to the body.
This allows the ground wires to rise above 0 Volts under heavy load.
The ignition power stage (aka ignition amplifier) grounds to this as well and eventually the voltage applied is insufficient to run the P/S and the spark stops.
