20W50 and no glowing oil light, well mostly 700 1991

I know, I know, 20W-50 is bad for Volvo engines. But a mechanic I sometimes go to suggested it as a way of remedying my low oil pressure at idle, and so for this oil change I thought I would try it, and indeed, the oil pressure light only glows now and then, as opposed to ALL the time (at idle only) once the engine is warmed up. Is low oil pressure at idle a symptom of a very worn engine? Could it be that my car idles too low and that causes the oil pressure to be a little low? Will I damage my car if I leave the 20W-50 in it for the next 1500 miles while I give it the second AutoRX treatment? (After this I am going to use Mobil 1 10W-30).

I am putting off dealing with the possibility that the oil delivery tube o-ring in the oil pan has been displaced. I realize it is a big job to fix that, so I am trying other things in the meantime.
