M46 into 142 clutch questions 140-160

Hi All, I am looking at installing a B21/23 into my '69 142, I am planning to mount it upright and use a modified bellhousing so I can mate an M46 transmission to it (as M41's are very hard to find in Australia). In terms of parts I would prefer to use 240 parts where I can as 140 parts are very hard to come by (comparitively) in Australia.

The '69 142 is currently automatic, my questions are as follows:

1) Can I swap in the clutch pedal assembly from the 240 into the 142, if so how much modifying is required?

2) Do the hydraulic and cable operated 240 clutches attach to the bellhousing and operate the throw-out fork in the same way?

3) When did volvo change from hydraulic to cable clutch operation?

Cheers,

Daz
