TEMP ADJUSTMENT SLIDE LETS GO 700 1986

AFTER 200K MY HEATER ADJUSTMENT SLIDE SLIPS OUT OF THE SLOT BEHIND THE
PANEL. IT APPEARS THE SLIDER IS WORN OUT, THUS THE SLIDE MECHANISM DOES NOT
STAY ATTACHED. IS THERE ANY EASY WAY TO REMEDY? NOW I AM STUCK WITH TAKING THE
PANEL APART TO ADJUST FOR THE SEASONS.

I HAVE TRIED MOVING THE SLIDER CAREFULLY WITH PLIERS (ON THE TONGUE) BUT IT STILL COMES LOOSE BEHIND THE PANEL. NO FUN! I AM WILLING TO CONSIDER A BY-PASS SYSTEM IF YOU HAVE A GOOD ONE, SO I CAN MOVE THE CABLE TO A DESIRED TEMP
AT ANY TIME. THANKS.
