sludge on side of engine 200

brickers,

i have a ton of sludge on the passenger's side of engine. it's deteriorated the engine mount, and before i fix that, where is it likely that the oil is coming from? it's all around the oil filter, above and below.

i just had the front seal replaced and i have checked the flame trap. i looked at the filter in the trap without pulling it out and it looked fine. would i necessarily see any blockage, or do i have to take it out to inspect? i replaced the small diameter hose that attaches to it, just because i had the hose and it was easy to do. i'm a knucklebuster under the hood.

is it the oil separator that is under the flame trap hose? could this be a problem as well? i do notice some oil around the oil cap where you put oil in the engine. it looks or seems like my pressure within the block is excessive, but not sure what to do from here.

thanks in advance,

steve
