Is my fuel pump dying on me? Strange loud noise and sputtering... 200 1984

I was driving home right now and the car was occasionally sputtering and acting like it was being starved or choked and couldn't get fuel.

It was sporadically occuring and I could hear a strange LOUD humming sound coming from underneath the car, by the fuel tank.

The sound is constant however (as opposed to the sputtering) and won't go away.

I think it's my main fuel pump dying.

Gotta pick up the old Bentley and see if I can run some simple tests to confirm.

I'll post my results when I'm done.

Any ideas otherwise?

Got an 84 automatic 240 turbowagon by the way, just so you'd know.
