The physics of balancing a virgo wheel 200 1989

Hi All,

After having what appear to be imbalanced virgos, I am looking to understand why this wheel is apparently 'hard to balance'...

I understand the difference of static and dynamic balancing. Let's go with the dynamic balancing of course.

1.. Do all balancing machines do dynamic balancing i.e. does the tech know how much weight to add to either plane (either side of the wheel) to balance it dynamically?

2.. Are all wheels designed to have a center of balance exactly in the middle (i.e. equidistant from both planes)? Do virgos have their center of balance exactly in the middle (equidistant from both planes)?

3.. Would I assume correctly that balancing machines can be calibrated to accept a variety of center of balance points?

4.. Is there anything specific to virgos that I should tell the tech so he understands what needs to be done?

5.. One tech told me he could not balance dynamically with stick-on weights. As I see it, the lateral position of the stick-on weight can be used to balance the wheel dynanamically, hence his statement makes no sense. Am I correct?


Thanks for any advice. Sorry to be so analytical, I am an engineer and a software/hardware design verifier so it's in my blood :)
