wiring in 90+ cruise control 200

I want to put this in my 89 240. From what I understand it should work, but I was kind of puzzled by the fact the the control unit has no connection with the spedometer. In the Bentley it shows a yellow wire going to the spedometer, but the cruise I got just plugged into a bundle of wires that went into the main wire harness(I am guessing the later 240s were hard wired for cruise). There is a yellow wire but it did not seem to go to the spedometer. I ended up cutting the wires at the vacuum pump and control unit so I have to piece it back together.

Has anyone transplanted one if these into an older 240? I actually have the version used on 89s sitting in a box too, but I would rather use the later one with a vacuum pump.
