All too true. Whatever happened to those claims of ceramic engines for the masses? I think they work but they have a tendency to crack and blow apart. Minor detail.

Further trivia: a 500HP engine operating at, say 35% efficiency, would get the same gas milage as a 50HP engine operating at the same 35% efficiency, assuming the same mass cars and the same friction, etc. I guess it is the combiled lower mass of smaller engines and car size that makes the econo boxes more fuel efficient, not HP per se.
