Just did one on my 90 740 - the top plastic broke off and part stayed in the hole! I had the exhaust front pipe off and could carefully get a long punch from the bottom of the trans to pop out the remains of the plastic holder.

Careful not bump or bang other components - you must have it up on good stands and a jack for second measure!
