unidentified part on 3 and 4th injector 700 1988

Trying to locate and change my flame trap and think the mechanic who worked on my injectors did some gerry rigging.

Position: Facing the driver side off the huge air hose, connected to the air filter, a hose goes into a black cup like connector between the 3rd and 4th injector. The black connector large part opening is fitted into the hose and a smaller stem goes into another hose connected to what i thing the breather box. The connector also has a small stem on top side which although has a hole does not seem to go throught into the connector. I stuck a pin with some force and it doesn't go thru. The connector large part opening seems to have three grips around its circumference.

Hopefully the above is not cryptic.

Any help please. Is this a gerry rig?
