RHEOSTAT BY PASS WORKS 700 1986

FELLOW "BRICK HEADS" YOU ARE GREAT! DUE TO YOUR ASSISTANCE I SUCCESSFULLY
BYPASSED THE BURNED OUT RHEO. THE FOLLOWING STEPS WERE DONE:
1. REMOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, BY POPPING OFF THE TWO NARROW COVERS
OVER THE RHEO AND CLOCK STEMS.(YOU CAN LEAVE THE CLOCK STEM IN
PLACE TEMPORARILY)
2. REMOVE THE TWO SCREWS BEHIND THE COVERS.
3. CAREFULLY PULL THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL FORWARD. YOU WILL
EXPERIENCE RESISTANCE SINCE THE CABLE FEEDS HAVE BEEN TIED BACK.
(CLIP ONE PLASTIC TIE BACK IF NECESSARY - ONE OF MINE BROKE
BY PULLING TOO MUCH AND THAT WAS ALL THE LENGTH NEEDED THEREAFTER.
4. TAKE NOTE OF THE POSITION OF SEVERAL (ABOUT SIX) ELECTRICAL FEEDS
AND CAREFULLY REMOVE THEM FROM THE BACK OF THE PANEL.
5. AT A WORK BENCH, UNSCREW THE RHEOSTAT. YOU WILL NOTE THERE ARE
THREE CONTACT POINTS FOR THE RHEO. (SET RHEO ASIDE)
6. USING A LIGHT GUAGE WIRE, CONNECT THE TWO CONTACT POINTS THAT
ARE CLOSEST TOGETHER.
7. ASSEMBLY IS JUST THE REVERSE.
Note: The clock "stem" adjuster pulls off, so you can easily turn
the entire instrument assembly on its face to work on it.

TO CLEAN YOUR INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OF DIRT, DUST, ETC., CAREFULLY PRY OFF THE
FRONT FRAME WITH A THIN SCREWDRIVER. (YOU WILL NOT THERE ARE SEVERAL "TABS" THAT
APPEAR TO HELP HOLD IT TOGETHER) IF YOU WASH THE CLEAR PLASTIC INSIDE AND
OUT, DRY THOROUGHLY; BLOW DRY WITH A HAIR DRYER TO PREVENT EXCESS MOISTURE
FROM GETTING CAUGHT)I USED A VACCUM (VERY CAREFULLY) TO PULL DUST, ETC, FROM AROUND THE GAUGES AND IDIOT LIGHT DISPLAYS. GOOD LUCK, PETIE IN DENVER, CO.
