Front end clunk - whassup with that? 700 1991

I recently had the control arm stays replaced on my '91 745 and hoped that this repair would cure the "clunk" sound I hear when I turn right or left, or often when I start moving the car. (It didn't.) It actually happens here and there usually with a change in speed. It comes distinctly from the left front wheel area and is not a loud clunk, just a little thunk like two parts are clicking back into place, or out of place. Any ideas as to what this might be?
