transmision kick-down cable 700 1992

The transmision kick-down cable on my 1992 745t is starting to stick. The throttle spindle sticks closed when it is very cold. Also after hard acceleration usch as passing, the cable sticks in the "out" position and the trans will not shift up when it is suppsed to untill it unsticks itself after several minutes. Eventually I will need to replace it. In the meane time, are there any quick, temporary, fixes for this? I was going to try some PB Blaster or somehting similar to free it up a bit. Good idea or bad?
Thanks.

Mark, 1992 745T 217K
