Did tune up myself; now I have problems and need help. 200 1983

I haven't replaced the air hose; it is stiff plastic, and once clamped into place it looks pretty tight; but I'm going to replace it. Can I use a flex hose here?

I looked at my work after my initial post, and when I touched the distributor cap (a) the assembly seemed to tilt slightly, and (b) the #4 wire appeared to not be firmly connected. I pressed it back into place, made sure the distributor was stable, looked at the air hose, and the engine ran fine through several runs up to 3500 rpm; suddenly removing foot from accelerator to drop to idle, and the like. I'm hoping it was just some erratic contact on the #4 wire at the distributor cap, but haven't ruled out the hose. Or possible water issue given when it happened.
