will 5w-30 'SL' oil harm my DIESEL engine 700

when winter arrived my '84 760 turbo diesel became quite difficult to start. i was running 15w-40 and i looked in the manual and it said 5w-30 is recommended for very cold temps. i put 5w-30 in and the car starts very easily, warms up easily, runs cooler climbing mountains and accelorates better than ever before. i later read the oil recommendations more closely and noticed that diesel oil should have a CD or CF rating. the 5w-30 i bought is SL, SJ, SH and IFSAC GF-3 rated. my car's running better than ever on this 5w-30 SL oil. i looked today and the only 5w-30 thats CD or CF rated is a full synthetic that costs four or five times more. my 760 has more than 200k and it's nearly an 8 quart oil change so i'm not interested in running synthetic. will 5w-30 SL oil harm my diesel?
