harness grounding out on something, making battery light come on 200

replacement harness has been in car since before I bought it. Lately my battery light has been coming on in a blinking fashion responding to engine and vehicle speed, so I was able to figure that a loose wire was making contact with something. When the light comes on the amps go down, conversely when the light is off the amps are normal, so the car has been partially running off the battery.....

Earlier today I got under the car to inspect the wires that plug into the alternater and other spade connectors down there, they all seem to have positive connections, didn't see anything wrong, the ground strap seems to be able to make contact with metal in the area perhaps it is the conduit of a short. I did push the wiring around and it did change the nature of my battery light so I guess I'm in the right area, the light did go on and off a little, I guess some wire is hitting the right spot and causing me problems. I'm thinking of wrapping the ground wire with a platic wire sheath.
