740 Upshift & Overdrive 700 1991

Had an intermittent overdrive upshift problem with my '91 740 (157K miles). I diagnosed it as an intermittent connection in the OD solenoid using a test fixture I installed in the OD relay socket. Had Volvo dealer check it out and they verified it. However they made it perminant when tapping the solenoid with a hammer. Had the dealer replace it ( mucho $ ). Now it won't upshift from 2nd. (Note: When working, the shift into 3rd and overdrive occur at about the same speed with a B230F & AW70.) Repaired and installed the old solenoid. Still no upshift. Now having a p___ing contest with the dealer claiming that it came out worse than when it went in. Appears to be now a valve body or governer problem.
Any ideas or suggestions? Could dirt have fallen into the solenoid ports when the new one was installed?
