Brakes killing my engine at stops? Is this it HELP ME IM DYING HERE AAAAA! 200

help me out once again, as much as I love this little girl I have, she keeps adding up on the bank account HAHA!!!

Anyway heres the deal, I have had brake failure light coming on here and there never for more than a few minutes at a time...very sporatic, never EVERYtime i stop, just once in a while...also i have the pedal will be hard (normal feel) but then it will sink to the floor after sitting at a light for a while. you know what i mean, like i can stop no problem but halfway through the light she drops to the floor all of a sudden..

Now i am coming home from work today, and the car gives me a check engine light, which fades away while i am slowing..next stop all the lights come up i look at tach..nothing, shes dead...pop the clutch and keep going after the stop sign, next stop is a light and i let the engine idle down clutch in, stab at the brakes, and sure enough engine wants to shut down lights flickering in and out sort of thing.....

I assume my brakes are causing this, but can you lead me the way to go? I checked the vacuum line going into the booster(?) and it isnt the tightest, but i have to bend side to side quite a bit to release the pressure in it...seems to be sealing fine...and the line is tight on the manifold as welll....any other ideas folks?

Robert
