TB Problem on my old '86? 700 1986

I'd agree that's it's running rich. I can smell the gas in the exhaust. Given that the FPR is relatively new, this suggests that my temp sensor has gone bad. I've been looking over the FAQs for information on this problem.

(hopefuly the the AAM "test' didn't waste the unit. I read here that disconnecting it was a good was to confirm if function was good/bad. Hopefully I didn't cook it in the process...) It seem to be okay. None of the symptoms have intesified and the car stil starts and runs with it's usual issues...

So, given the stalling and almost inevitable backfire/misfire, could a dirty throttle body be causing it? The FAQs describe a "petroleum storm" which sounds like a culprit for a backfire/misfire in the system.
