turbo woes 900 1994

I am home for xmas and took my brick to local mechanic to have oil return line fixed, and oil adapter o-ring repaired as well. He found oil in carbon canister and has advised me of turbo pushing oil past seals. Drove the car today and she is now blowing big plumes of blue smoke out the back of the car when I let off of accelerator, has not done this before. Also idle is a little rougher than usual and check engine briefly came on when starting car. A little sluggish to accelerate off of stop but reaches interstate speeds 65-70. Is my turbo finally failing, will still boost well. I will have to drive back home next week over 600 miles and am concerned about getting stranded if turbo blows any advice would be much appreciated as to what I can do. Merry Xmas bricksters!
