960 timing gone tottal fubar 900

so last saturday night i pull my car in the garage to start to change the timing belt. since i wasnt sure when the PO replaced it and its only like 25 bucks.
And i find the itsy bitsy timing marks on all the cams right?
get everything lined up hunky dory.....crank it over....nothing no compression.

well there are 4 diffrent sets of marks on the cams white out, file marks on the cams.
tried them all and still kaputt.
so heres what iam thinking the scenario is.....there is a dampner behind the e xhaust cam gear and the exhaust cam gear didnt put back on right (which just happened to be done at a dealer i know thanks buddy!)
i bought a timing light thatll work with the ignition boots but it was broken in the box so ive got to wait till after x-mass to return it to autozone

sooo the timing is absolute frustrating......any ideas?? iam pretty much defeated
i can take off the tensioner backwards and blinfolded ive done it 8-9 times i think
