hot cat? 200

hi everyone i was wondering, my catalytic converter is in question. when i turn my car off after it is warmed up the cat starts ticking loudly for about 3 minutes. i know they get very hot. my motorcycles made this type of noise also. i kicked it with my foot when it was cool and it is not rattling. my two other 240 do not make this ticking noise. the cat is not red hot glowing. how does one know when to replace the cat? out of all three 240s 85,86,87. this one seems to have the slowest pickup when starting from dead stop. thanks for any input.
