Distributor Cap...Mission Impossible?? 700 1987

Hey guys...I recently acquired an '87 740 GLE Wagon with 210,000 miles. It runs when it wants to...I am doing some basic troubleshooting now. I have changed the fuel filter, air filter, and am working on the spark plugs and wires when I get extra money. My concern is that I have bought a new distributor cap and rotor, and as per my Haynes manual, the screws are on the other side of the cap, facing the firewall... How the hell am I supposed get those 3 screws off? When I reinstall, can I screw them in the opposite way, making it easier for me to change it in the future? Please help me; I have many plans for this wagon...
