940 Lambda Sond warning light 900 1991

Car: 91 940GL sedan B230F & AW71. Bosch LH2.4 FI & EZ116K ignition

Sometimes when I start the car the Lambda sond warning light stays on for up to 10-12 seconds. This happens more frequently when the engine is hot and has been stopped briefly (less than 10 minutes). It did this 3 times in a row this morning. The light will go off by itself after this time or sooner if I tap the throttle. Often it is accompanied by a low idle - around 500 rpm but it never stalls. I have checked the diagnostic unit but there are no fault codes just 1-1-1. Is this a failing oxygen sensor? Weak fuel mixture? What other things are related to this warning light?

Thanks for any advice.

Brad
